Women's Rights National Historical Park is pleased to offer a new program, created in partnership with Seward House Museum in Auburn, NY. Martha Coffin Wright, one of the organizers of the 1848 Women's Rights Convention in Seneca Falls, was a larger than life figure who impacted and influenced everyone around her. To mark her birthday later this month, we are premiering a program that takes a closer look at this "very dangerous woman."

This brand new program, brought to us through Jeff Ludwig, Seward House Museum's Director of Education, considers Martha Coffin Wright from the vantage of Frances Seward. These women were friends, neighbors, and reformers who helped shape the debate around women’s rights. Jeff Ludwig, Director of Education at Seward House Museum in Auburn, New York, argues Frances Seward was “emboldened” by Martha Coffin Wright, who opened up new worlds and new ways to her friend.
